Fest 2012 - Granite Lake

The 2012 Fest, dedicated to JRH's bachelorhood and impending family-making, was located in the Grand Sierra Nevada, Emigrant Wilderness (where else?) at Granite Lake, but was actually on another planet completely. You might call it Planet Kubb.  Full of choice bros, dogs and perfect weather and water temperature, this was a little bit of heaven on Kubb.

2011 Fest Approaching!!

The weekend of August 20th we will invade the Sierra. We'll be launching from Giannelli's Trailhead in the Emigrant Wilderness off of Hwy 108 the morning of Thursday, Aug 18. Haven't determined the lake yet, but we'll update when it is set. Return date is Sunday, Aug 21.

We need to get an accurate head count so we can hire the correct number of donkeys to take our stuff deep into the back country.

Email festitup@gmail.com with commitment or regrets

You are welcome to hike out on your own if you can't leave Thursday morning. Any time on the fest is a good time. We can help coordinate rides and directions to camp.

Long Lake is super long.

So we have settled on our lake for the 2010 fest. We will be hiking out to Long Lake. For those that can handle the full experience, we will be driving up from the bay Wednesday night (Aug 26th) after traffic. Wednesday night will be spent at the Lair. Thursday morning we will rise and get to the pack station to load the mules and pack out to Long Lake.

For those that can't swing the full deal, there will a late crew doing the same itinerary Thursday night (August 27th), hiking in Friday AM.

Festing begins once you get out there till Sunday morning when we pack up and peace out with rejouvinated souls and battle scars from the mayhem.

The list on the right has been updated to reflect the current roster. Let us know if your plans have changed, you want in, or you have someone that might be missing from the list.

Fest 2010 Weekend Of August 28th

Gentleman,

Strap on your boots and grab your hats. We have set the dates for the 2010 fest as the weekend of August 28th. Plan to also take 1-2 days off most likely leading up to that weekend. As it gets closer we can poll those going to see what works better for peeps.
But, the weekend of the 28th is set. With football, weddings and singles cruises cluttering the calendar this is the weekend that makes the most sense.

Where: Somewhere in the Emigrant wilderness.
What: Hiring a train of mules to carry our shit far far into the wilderness so we can shoot guns, throw shoes and get loose.
When: 4 days, weekend of August 28th
Who: Anyone that is cool being away from their ipad.
Why: Cause our souls need it.

More information to follow...so for now tell your loved ones, bosses and parole officers that you will be out of contact those days.

What is the Fest?

The Fest is a 4 day explosion of living and thriving in the Sierra Nevada's Emigrant Wilderness . It has been 2 years since we last saddled up the mules and took to the backcountry. It's high time to grab your sacks and packs and get out there again...We will be enjoying the sweaty granite and artichoke scented pines to the fullest. We will most likely leave from Sardellas pack station and head out to a lake to be determined....somewhere deep.

We will have mules to carry our shit, so you will need to only walk your fat ass out to the lake.

Cost of the Fest

Depending on our guest list, the price of the fest will be $175-$275. This will include mules, food and liquor for the week. You will be responsible for all sleeping equipment and personal party favors. Due to to the donkey's being a major part of the cost, and a fixed cost at that, we will not be able to give price breaks for shortened schedules.
